For researching purposes, I allow the students to use the internet. In the past, I have used computers for publishing.

In Kindergarten:

1. Learn to type first and last name with correct capital letters and space

2. make powerpoint presentations of class field trips. Print them on color to make class books

3. add pictures (clip art, photos, drawings) to children's writing

My students always have the chance to publish their finished work using PowerPoint on Microsoft Word. Students also use the computer to research information for different topics. Also, pictures and graphics can be added to a final piece.

I don't have a classroom, but when I do I would use technology. I would use technology according to the grade. One way that first popped into my mind was letting the writers type their favorite piece of work in a creative font.

I use it to research topics with the children. We also use it to publish pieces of writing. Sometimes I allow the students to use kidspiration to web their ideas before writing.
