They can spend a lot of time just typing if they do not have good keyboarding skills.

Many "seasoned" teachers do not have the training needed to use some of the newer technology. At my school, we have a smart board, but I don't know how to use and have not been offered training (unless I seek it out myself on my own time). I do like taking students to our computer lab because each student gets their own computer and can work at their own pace but sometimes, not all of them work and so students have to share. We have technology support personnel but they are not housed at my school. They are quick to help us but it sometimes takes a few days to get computers back up and running.

In kindergarten, with 22 in my class and no assistant, I need parent volunteers to make it work. They are not always available of reliable (I just need more help!)

Managing each student’s work on the computer can sometimes be a challenge. Some students don’t save their work correctly or forget to save often. Lack of computers may also can problems.

It may take more time to set up and establish than it's worth. In addition I don't know many younger students are taught to type in the early grades. If they do not know how to type efficiently, this may become a tedious and cumbersome task for them rather than a reward.

Difficulties include: having enough computers for students to use or setting up a schedule for the computer use, having the time to allow them to type their stories since keyboarding skills may not be that great, keeping their work saved and organized on the computer.

My biggest problem is that I don't have enough computers for each student to have their own to work on.
